To
become an ABCD dentist (eligible for enhanced ABCD fees) the provider
must have a DSHS Provider number and attend an ABCD Certification
Training conducted by the University of Washington School of Pediatric
Dentistry.
Such trainings are held at various times throughout the state.
When a dentist attends a training in a county other than where
his dental practice is located, the county hosting the ABCD training
is responsible to notify the Dental Program Manager of the Medical
Assistance Administration. This will ensure the dentist is awarded
ABCD enhanced fees for dental services.
Dental office staff: front office, assistants, and hygienists
will benefit by attending the ABCD training. It is important for
all staff to understand the framework of ABCD, as well as what
benefits are covered under the program. If all staff members hear
the same information and understand how the ABCD program helps
the children, parents and dental offices, the flow of ABCD children
into an office is much easier and expedient.
ABCD staff will assist offices by:
Conducting parent education prior to enrollment.
Addressing no-show, cancellation issues and poor parent/child
behavior with parents.
Helping to locate address and phone numbers for patients
who have moved.
Providing interpreter information.
Answering or assisting in answering billing questions/problems.
You can be put in touch with appropriate individuals in Olympia.
Acting as a referral facilitator when working with Child
Protective Services (CPS), Developmentally Disabled, (DD), and
Public Health Nursing.
Addressing poor parent behavior identified by an office.
Supporting offices to help with the ABCD process and protocol.
