What's
the Difference
between ABCD and ABCDE?
Access to Baby and Child Dentistry (ABCD) is a successful preventative
and restorative care program for Medicaid-eligible children 0 to 6 years
of age. ABCDE (ABCD "Expanded") is a new program, based on ABCD,
which provides oral assessment, education, fluoride varnish, and dental
referral for Medicaid-eligible children up to the age of 19.
ABCDE also offers a unique pilot partnership between medical and
dental health providers. As of January 2002, Dr. Dale Ruemping and the
Spokane Health District staff have been training pediatric and family
practice offices in Spokane to provide an oral assessment, education,
fluoride varnish and dental referral.
